Trilobites

We mostly use the trilobite Elrathia Kingi, which is mined or collected near Delta, Utah.  Although not extremely hard, this fossil wears quite well when set in sterling silver.

Trilobites-meaning three lobed, refers to the longitudinal sections of the fossil. 

There are some fifteen thousand species of trilobites.  The age of these fossils ranges from 250 to 550 million years.
